The job

A brick barn turned into a family room, with French doors and an oak-framed veranda that keeps the summer sun off the glass.

The brief

A sound brick barn used as a garage. The owners wanted a room for the children that opens to the garden, without losing what makes the barn a barn.

What we built

A new insulated floor, four new openings with French doors, and an oak-framed veranda along the south side. Graham’s team cut and pegged the oak in the workshop and raised it in two days.

How the money went

Agreed at £124,500. Swapping paving for a timber deck under the veranda added £2,300. Final account £126,800.
